Yes, USA did win the space race. They have robots on Mars, they monitor other planets, their spaceship managed to leave solar system, they developed first reusable space rocket, took part in the first human made probe landing on asteroid, etc...

Sorry how is sending a woman to space more relevant today than standing on the moon? I mean it’s bragging Rights is something like this and being able to say you stood on top of a big ball of cheese just means something. And I’m sure space travel has benefitted greatly from the entire apolo programm, so in some way it’s probably still relevant today... Sure, Russia did a lot of great things, but saying that the USA did basicly nothing is just bullshit.

A race has to have a goal. The goal of the space race was to take people to the Moon. I'm not really arguing that the USSR achieved amazing things during the space race - albeit with significant costs -, but the US achieved their goal faster, even if they were progressing slowly. So yes, the US did win the space race. It was a huge deal, and we'll be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, so either lose the attitude or you're not invited. :P By the way, this is exactly how we know that the US did not fake the Moon landing. If they did, the USSR would have been *very* quick to point that out. The fact that they admitted defeat is proof in and of itself.

Current Russian space program achievement is to deliver cargo and explain why space station has drilled hole. Meanwhile NASA (and European and Japanese space agency i lesser amount) explore mars, build two excellent space telescopes, land on comet, make high res pictures of many space objects and many more. Russia is doing nothing at all, except providing cheaper than domestic mean of lifting cargo and personnel into space station. Look also at amount of patten ant technology development NASA did. Sadly there is nothing to compere between. And the last straw. Early Russian success was forced by may casualties and cutting corners to be first at everything. It was propaganda driven.

Again, yes they did. The USSR never managed to put a man on the moon and gave up on the space race. Meanwhile the US accomplished everything that is on this meme and more.

Only one of the things listed is "relevant today". Getting to the moon was the race, Murica got there first and thus won the race. Literally the only thing that matters is that we used the station to continue our advancement. Murica had also improved the space travel piggy backing on Russian achievements and have made multiple trips to the moon and left items there to further science.
